Coding and Robotics


Students in the Coding and Robotics pathway prepare for careers related to computer science that involve the design, development, implementation, maintenance and management of systems that rely on software programs to satisfy the operational needs of modern business organizations. This pathway focuses on computer programming for solving applied problems in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), such as solving-problems in algebra and robotics.

ACRT or the Autonomous Circuits Racing Team is a self-driving racecar team working with the BeaverWorks Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We are the first team in the U.S. to be collaborating with MIT to build and program mini self-driving racecars. Students learn how to program and develop algorithms on the racecars from scratch, in Python, with no prior experience necessary. ACRT is a truly unique and rewarding experience, where in addition to learning coding and cutting-edge technologies currently used in research and industry, students also have the opportunity to apply for a 4-week intensive summer racecar program at MIT, called BWSI: where students have the can conduct and learn advanced development techniques with the self-driving racecars.

Do you like mechanics?  Do you like coding? Then join the COHS VEX Robotics Team! Students receive hands-on experience with coding languages such as C++, Python, and Javascript. Collaborate with your peers in order to build competitive robots and enrich your coding knowledge. With plenty of building materials and a robot ring, we have the perfect space for creating and programming robots. Looks amazing on college applications!

Attend our meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:00 in HF2. New members are always welcome to join and no experience is required.
