What's New

The COHS Student Body and Leadership want all of us to take care of ourselves physically and mentally, especially while we are distance learning.

Every week we will highlight a new topic. This week the students wanted you to focus on staying positive. These are researched and written by the Leadership students and are shared with you here.

Mindfulness Monday

“Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it.” – Eckhart Tolle.

Tolle’s quote tells us to be attentive in the moment and to roll with the punches. His quote gives incite on mindfulness, our ability of being aware of our situation in the current moment. During this pandemic, repetition is common however remembering to accept our situation by being mindful and breaking through the monotony on top of working with our circumstances will help us reach our goals.

1. Be Optimistic - When looking to become more optimistic it can be challenging. A starting point can simply be by changing your mindset on things. For example, instead of looking at a bad situation as horrible you can start by identifying all the good within it.

2.Healthy Lifestyle - Studies have shown that exercise and healthy eating can improve both the mind and body. Start with just 10-minutes a day to relieve stress.

3.Surround Yourself with Positive People - Make sure those in your life are positive, supportive people you can depend on to give helpful advice and feedback.

4.Practice Positive Self-Talk - Start by following one simple rule; don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to anyone else. Treat yourself how you would treat others. You can also start by thinking about things you're thankful for in your life.
